Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra is a private, coeducational Roman Catholic university in the Dominican Republic. The university was founded in 1962, and is the first private university in the nation. It offers undergraduate, graduate, doctoral and professional degrees in different disciplines through its four major faculties: The Faculty of Social Sciences, Humanities, and Arts, the Faculty of Economic and Administrative Sciences, the Faculty of Science and Engineering, and the Faculty of Health Sciences. The university is spread across three major campuses: one in Santiago de los Caballeros, another in Santo Domingo and the third in Puerto Plata. The language of instruction is mainly Spanish. The main campus in Santiago is popular for its ecological beauty. The university also has several modern amenities to facilitate the overall development of its students. Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra is renowned for is academic excellence and dual degrees in conjunction with prestigious foreign universities.
