21 September University for Medical and Applied Sciences


 


Founded & Purpose


Established in June 2016 (8 Ramadan 1437 AH), the university was formed during the Yemeni conflict to address the urgent demand for specialized healthcare and applied sciences education in Yemen . It holds the distinction of being the first public university in Yemen dedicated exclusively to medical and applied sciences .


 


Mission & Vision


Guided by its motto “A bridge from education to learning,” the university aims to equip highly qualified professionals to support national health system development and foster academic excellence .


 


Leadership


The university is currently headed by Prof. Mojahed Ali Hatem Measar, who provides visionary leadership and drives academic innovation .

It hosted the 6th Scientific Conference, featuring student graduation research presentations and recommendations for public health improvements—for instance, making cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training mandatory and supporting health education initiatives .


 


In May 2025, it convened the First International Scientific Conference on Medical Management, focusing on sustainable healthcare strategies, digital health technologies, and effective medical administration .

The inaugural Clinical Pharmacy Conference celebrated the university’s rapid growth—now boasting more than 4,500 medical graduates in under nine years .
