Bachelor of Medicine

The Bachelor of Medical Education (or Bachelor of Medicine – Pre-Clinical Program) is a higher education program designed to prepare future doctors to understand and master medical sciences as well as the clinical skills required to become competent healthcare professionals. This program typically lasts around 5–6 years, depending on the curriculum and education system in each country. During their studies, students not only learn medical theories but also gain practical experience through rotations in various hospital departments such as surgery, internal medicine, pediatrics, and obstetrics and gynecology. In the early stage, students study the fundamental sciences of medicine, including anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, pharmacology, and pathology. This phase aims to build a strong foundation of knowledge before entering the clinical stage. In addition, students are taught medical ethics, medical communication, and patient management, which are essential aspects of daily medical practice. After completing the pre-clinical stage, students proceed to the clinical phase, where they are directly involved in patient care under the supervision of experienced doctors. This provides an opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge in real-life situations, develop diagnostic skills, and learn to make appropriate medical decisions. After graduation, they are usually required to undergo an internship before taking certification exams to obtain a medical license. The program not only emphasizes technical medical competencies but also focuses on the development of soft skills such as empathy, teamwork, and effective communication with patients and their families. Graduates of this program are expected to become not only medically competent doctors but also compassionate professionals with high integrity in carrying out their duties.
