Program Mission The program seeks to prepare highly qualified scientific cadres who possess advanced scientific and research capacities and skills in historical studies and political science, in a manner that meets labor market needs in accordance with quality standards and academic accreditation requirements. Program Objectives Preparing qualified and specialized cadres with a high level of competence for academic and political work and effective professional practice in the field of specialization. Developing intellectual, cognitive, and political skills among students and equipping them with learning tools. Training students to address societal and political problems using approaches and methods derived from historical experiences and events. Preparing specialists to work in governmental and non-governmental institutions, as well as local and international organizations. Providing students with modern scientific research methods and skills in utilizing technology and modern techniques to access electronic databases in political and historical sciences. Advancing scientific and knowledge-based research in the fields of political science, history, and international relations. Learning Outcomes First: Knowledge and Understanding Skills Graduates will be able to: Recognize the importance of studying the foundations of history and political science and their intellectual schools. Explain contemporary historical and political terms and concepts and the relationship between them. Interpret contemporary political issues and the historical events that led to them. Second: Cognitive (Mental) Skills Upon completion of the program, the student will be able to: Compare general concepts and terminology in the fields of historical studies and political science. Analyze social and political phenomena and problems by tracing their historical roots. Distinguish between historical facts and contemporary political issues. Third: Professional Skills Graduates will be able to: Employ historical and archaeological information in tourism promotion and work in political and public relations fields. Demonstrate proficiency in handling historical sources, references, and various political documents. Use technology and modern techniques to access historical information and electronic databases related to political science and its fields of knowledge. Program Overview In recognition of the Department of History at the Faculty of Arts, Ibb University, of the need to develop its academic programs and introduce new, contemporary programs—alongside the diversity of research and academic interests within the department—a new program entitled History and Political Science has been established, and the department has accordingly been renamed the Department of History and Political Science. History and politics are two sides of the same coin, as both are based on historical and political facts and events. History represents the repository of political events; therefore, no individual can fully understand political science without adequate knowledge of historical events. The development of this program makes an effective contribution to upgrading educational cadres and preparing and qualifying specialized researchers as well as political and diplomatic professionals who meet the needs of society.
