About Termiz State University

Termez State University (TerSU) is a major public comprehensive university located in the historic city of Termez, Uzbekistan. The institution was originally founded in 1954 as the Termez Pedagogical Institute and was reorganized into a full multidisciplinary university in 1992. Over the decades, it has steadily developed into one of the leading higher education and research centers in the country, known for its academic quality, scientific output, and strong contribution to regional and national development. Its location in one of Central Asia’s most culturally significant regions supports its active role in historical, archaeological, and cultural research alongside modern scientific and professional education.

The university maintains broad international engagement through partnerships with more than 100 universities and research institutions worldwide across Asia, Europe, and North America. These collaborations include joint and dual-degree programs, coordinated research projects, academic mobility schemes, and faculty and student exchanges, helping to build a globally connected learning environment. TerSU is particularly recognized for its archaeological and heritage research projects in the Surkhandarya region, including major excavations and interdisciplinary studies of ancient sites, trade routes, and settlements connected with the Silk Road civilization. Research findings and artifacts from these projects contribute to global scholarship and are preserved in regional museum collections.
